POLL WORKERS WANTED!

The best way to ensure that access needs are met at the polls is for people with disabilities is to volunteer and serve as poll workers. If you are interested in becoming a poll worker, email NYSILC at bradw@nysilc.org. In the email, list your name, address, city/town, zip code, telephone number, email address, specific access considerations, and/or any other comments.

There are shortages for poll inspectors and machine custodians across the state. By indicating your interest, NYSILC will broker your application to the Board of Elections for you. We will encourage them to contact local officials, who will hopefully at least inform you about the responsibilities involved before proceeding further.

If you do become a poll worker, we do ask that you notify us at bradw@nysilc.orgor (518) 427-1060 (voice or TTY) mso we can keep track of how many people are successful. We also want to be able to keep contact with people who are actively integrated into the process.

Thank you for your active interest to make New York’s voting process accessible to its citizens with disabilities.

For more information about being a poll worker, check out the NYS Board of Elections Manual and Election Inspector
