"FREE OUR PEOPLE" MARCH

WASHINGTON, DC - September 17, 2003. More than 200 advocates from 25 states traveled 144 miles from Philadelphia to DC, camping along they way, to educate Congress about legislation known as MiCASSA. The act would amend Medicaid so people can choose where they want to receive their long-term care services. The marchers were greeted by a crowd of over 3,000 people for a rally in Upper Senate Park. New York was well represented. More than 300 advocates attended from through out the state. Rochester ADAPT members had 90 people traveling by way of bus and vans. DIA and NY City ADAPT members reserved seven Amtrak train cars and joined the marchers at Union Station.
