- 511NY is New York State's official traffic and travel info source.
Whether you drive or take public transit, click below for precisely what you
need, or simply dial 511 on your phone. Wherever you're going, 511NY is here to
get you there. The free, one-stop, all-encompassing Web and telephone service
provides the latest on transportation services and conditions statewide. It
operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Web site,
http://www.511ny.org/, has a wealth of
essential news on traffic and transit conditions, transit trip planners,
ride-sharing options and other travel links. With Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and
YouTube features, you can find out even more information and get connected to
go anywhere. The phone service is an automated, interactive voice system
reachable by landline and cellular phones and driven by a user's voice or phone
keys. 511NY features nine different calling regions statewide with unique
calling menus tailored to the transportation services available within each
region. Also free within the 511NY system is a personalized TransAlert
subscription service that provides e-mail or cell phone text notifications of
significant incidents on major highways and the greater transportation network
in the state. TransAlerts are short electronic messages sent by NYSDOT via the
New York State Emergency Management Office's NY-ALERT system.
